How to pick a gift an engineer will actually wear
Engineers can spot generic "engineer" merch from across the room. The gifts that land reference what the person really does. So the first question isn't "what do engineers like?" but "what does this engineer work on?"
Designs and machines parts? Go Mechanical. Runs production lines or lean projects? Manufacturing. Signs off on inspections and CAPAs? Quality. Writes code? Software. Works on sites and structures? Civil. Manages deadlines and scope? Project Manager. Circuits and signals? Electrical.
T-shirt, hoodie or mug?
A T-shirt is the safe choice. A hoodie is the bigger gift for cold labs and winter. Not sure of their size? A mug with the same design avoids the problem entirely.

FAQ
What if I don't understand the joke?
That's normal, and it's a good sign. Most product pages have a Design Story section that explains the reference in plain language, so you'll know what you're giving.
What size should I buy?
If you can, check the size of a shirt they already wear and compare it with the size chart on the product page. Still unsure? Find Your Fit helps, or go for a mug.
