Technical Anatomy & Specifications

Fiber integrity, torque settings, GSM, and structural assembly determine whether a unit fails or endures.

1. Fiber Mechanics & Spinning

Airlume Cotton

Advanced Filtration

BELLA+CANVAS’ proprietary Airlume process removes more impurities than standard combed cotton. Result: An ultra-smooth canvas with near-zero surface friction.

Ring-Spun Yarn

High Tensile

Continuous core twisting creates a denser, more uniform yarn than open-end processes. Delivers enhanced seam durability and reduced pilling potential.

32 Singles Gauge

Fine Resolution

Utilized for lightweight fluidity. High thread count per inch results in a smoother surface and better detailed ink adhesion.

20 Singles Gauge

Structural Rigidity

Utilized for heavyweight applications. Thicker yarn diameter provides thermal insulation and a rugged, structured drape.

2. Fabric Weight (GSM) Matrix

GSM (Grams per Square Meter) is the primary metric for fabric density. While higher GSM provides superior structure and thermal insulation, it does not guarantee longevity alone - fiber quality dictates lifespan.

Class GSM Spec Thermal Output Use Case
Lightweight (Premium) 142–146 g/m² High Airflow / Breathable High temp environments, layering base
Midweight (Premium) 180 g/m² Balanced / 3-Season Core rotation, daily driver
Heavyweight (Premium) 220–300 g/m² Insulating / Shielding Cold climates, structured streetwear fit

3. Structural Assembly

Side-Seamed Construction

Fit Integrity

Tailored structure versus cheap tubular manufacturing. Side seams prevent garment torque (twisting) after washing and ensure consistent fit.

Shoulder Taping

Reinforcement

Continuous fabric strip sewn over shoulder seams. Prevents shoulder blowout and maintains structural shape under load.

Double-Needle Topstitch

Durability

Dual parallel stitching rows on sleeves and bottom hem. Distributes tension to prevent thread snapping during mechanical wash cycles.

4. Finishing Protocols

Pre-Shrinking

Stabilization

Fabric is mechanically compacted prior to cutting. Minimizes dimensional variance (shrinkage) after the first home laundry cycle.

Ribbed Knit Collar

Elasticity

Collar engineered with 1x1 ribbing for memory retention. Better resists "bacon neck" warping after repeated wear and washing.

Pigment Inks

skin safe

Water-based, non-toxic ink application. Supplier-certified standards for skin safety and minimal environmental footprint.
